Honey and Lies (Japanese: 恋と嘘, Hepburn: Koi to Uso ) is a Japanese manga by Musawo (too known as Musawo Tsumugi ( 紬木 ムサヲ , Tsumugi Musawo )).[3] The serial follows a teenage boy who confesses to his long-time crush, despite the fact that he has been assigned a fiancée by the regime in an alternate version of modern Japan. Information technology is being published past Kodansha, with releases online by DeNA'south Manga Box app in multiple languages. An anime adaptation aired from July to September 2017. A live-action film adaptation was released in October 2017.
Plot [edit]
In the almost futurity, children who take turned 16 years former are assigned past the regime to a partner based on compatibility calculation, in order to increase the country's birth rate. Those who exercise non marry their assigned partner suffer astringent penalties. Yukari Nejima finally confesses his dear to schoolmate and long-fourth dimension crush Misaki Takasaki and discovers she has liked him back. However, when he turns 16, he is assigned another daughter, Ririna Sanada. Ririna is not that thrilled near being assigned, and is very willing to permit Yukari freely relate with Misaki and then she can learn what existence in dearest is really similar. The story follows their adventures of the teens every bit they try to relate with 1 another while keeping upward appearances with the authorities.

- The first heroine of the series. Misaki is Yukari's showtime love who is also in love with him. She has short dark hair styled in a bob.Ch. 1-2 She is cute and pop amidst her schoolmates. She first noticed Yukari in fifth form when he bankrupt his eraser into two and gave her i half after seeing that she didn't have an eraser since first catamenia. She developed feelings of love for him and his many quirks.Ch. 11 She thinks Ririna is a flake naive when it comes to encouraging her and Yukari to go along relating with each other every bit a couple.

- The second heroine of the series. Ririna is Yukari's bundled partner. She is a beautiful girl with rose blonde hair and big eyes where she resembles a doll. She is aware of Yukari's feelings towards Misaki and agrees to help him out as she wishes to larn what dear is like too,Ch. 6-7 and perks upward whenever in that location is the topic of dear among Yukari and his friends.Ch. 28 When she was younger she was often sick, and when she conversed with girls she was often candid on her thoughts, and so she was unable to brand friends. Her classmates are envious of her looks and grades, calling her stuck up.Ch. 8-nine

- The main protagonist of the serial. Yukari has been in love with his classmate Misaki Takasaki since the fifth form. Before his 16th birthday, he confesses his feelings to Misaki Takasaki which apparently, turned out to exist mutual.Ch. 1-two He enjoys studying Kofun ancient burying mounds.Ch. 2

- Yukari's friend who is surrounded in mystery. He becomes enlightened of the relationship betwixt Yukari and the girls.Ch. 15 He is very pop with the girls, that they had one of them appointment him for six months.Ch. 28 Different Yukari, he does not accept cooking or cleaning skills.Ch. 29

- A member of the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare, assigned to Yukari and Ririna'southward marriage instance. He has grey hair in the anime.

- A member of the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare, assigned to Yukari and Ririna's union example. She has short carmine hair in the anime and works with Yajima.

- Misaki's all-time friend in heart schoolhouse who seems to know the reason behind Yukari's sudden partner change.

As of June 2017[update], vi volumes has been released by Kodansha.[8] The French version, licensed by Pika Shonen, was commencement released on November 2, 2016[9] and the 5th volume was released on June 28, 2017.[ten] The English version has been licensed by Kodansha USA,[xi] with the first volume being released on August 22, 2017.[12] An official fanbook was released on July 7, 2017 in Japan.[13]

Anime [edit]
An anime adaptation by Liden Films and directed past Seiki Takuno aired from July 4[a] [41] [42] [43] [four] to September 19, 2017. The iv-member rock band Frederic performed the opening theme song titled "Kanashii Ureshii" ( かなしいうれしい , "Deplorable and Happy") [5] while three-fellow member unit Roy performed the ending theme song titled "Can't Yous Say".[44] Sentai Filmworks take licensed the series and streamed the series on Anime Strike and on Hidive outside of the US.[45] [46] MVM Films has licensed the series in the United kingdom.[47]
An original blitheness DVD was announced on the release of the seventh book of the manga, with the DVD being arranged with the eighth book of the manga on November nine, 2018.[48] The release will include two episodes.[49]
Live-action film [edit]
A live action motion-picture show adaptation premiered in October 2017. Instead of a honey triangle between one male child and two girls, information technology has one girl and two boys. The film stars Aoi Morikawa as Aoi Nisaka, the pb heroine; Takumi Kitamura as Yūto Shiba, Aoi's childhood friend; and Kanta Satō every bit Sōsuke Takachino, Aoi's arranged partner. The picture was directed by Takeshi Furusawa and the screenplay done by Erika Yoshida.[51]

The manga's compiled book volumes have often ranked on Oricon's weekly top 50 comic charts.[41] Book 2 reached number sixteen,[52] Volume 3 reached number 6,[53] Volume 4 reached number 5,[54] and Volume v reached number 15.[55] Manga Box had reported Love and Lies as their nigh popular work with 3.five million viewers, a month after the manga's launch in August 2014.[41]
